EBRSO Arrest Three Felony Lane Gang Members

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested three members of the national “Felony Lane Gang” this weekend that came to East Baton Rouge Parish with the purpose of burglarizing vehicles and stealing identities.

John Wright, 33, Curtis Standley, 34, and Tony Lester, 27; all of Pompano Beach, Florida; are charged with Simple Burglary (3 cts.), Theft (3cts), Criminal Damage to Property (3cts), and Possession of Burglary Tools.

Wright is also charged with five additional counts of Simple Burglary, Theft and Criminal Damage to Property for vehicle burglaries that occurred in February 2014 in the south Baton Rouge area.

According to reports, deputies were called out to the Burbank Soccer Complex, 12400 Burbank Dr., Saturday morning in reference to two vehicle burglaries in which purses were stolen. A third vehicle burglary occurred in the Oak Hill’s Subdivision BREC Park overnight. A short time later, EBRSO received a call from the Chase Bank on Corporate Blvd, that advised a woman attempted to cash a stolen check.  The female left the check and ID behind when the bank took too long.  The check belonged to one of the burglary victims and the ID used belonged to another. Two stolen checks were written out to the victim with the ID for $2000.00 and another for $1,700.00.

EBRSO put out the vehicle description of the woman to other local agencies, and a short time later, was advised the vehicle was stopped in Port Allen by the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. The subjects were transported back to EBR where a search warrant was obtained for their vehicle and detectives located two chisel (glass punch) like tools used for shattering windows.   Detectives also located a receipt belonging to Curtis Standley which showed that he transferred money to a female in Florida in the amount of $50.00.  Also located was another money order receipt which shows John Wright transferred $1500.00 cash to a female in Florida.

Standley admitted coming to Baton Rouge from Florida with the two co-defendants. He admitted that they were members of the Felony Lane Gang.  He stated they came to Baton Rouge with the sole purpose of breaking into vehicles to gain victims personal information for banking purposes.

The investigation is ongoing and other charges and arrests may be pending.
