EBRSO Apprehends Suspect in Attempted Armed Robbery of Valero

Tonight East Baton Rouge Sheriff's homicide detectives apprehended the man suspected in the attempted armed robbery of the Valero gas station on Bluebonnet Blvd. Friday morning.

Joshua J. Darson (dob 10/23/88) of 8918 GSRI Ave. is charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer with a Firearm and Resisting an Officer.

EBRSO responded to an alarm for an attempted armed robbery of a business at 9990 Bluebonnet at approximately 5:00 Friday morning. The suspect fled on foot from the Valero gas station. Deputies set up a perimeter in the area to search for the suspect, but did not locate him. Detectives located a discarded hoodie and ace bandage in the area where the suspect fled. The items fit the description provided by clerks of the suspect and matched surveillance video of the suspect.

The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab processed the evidence for DNA and notified detectives of a CODIS hit for Darson.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Darson and apprehended him near his home this evening at approximately 7:45.

He will be booked into parish prison on the above listed charges.
