EBRSO Apprehends Scotlandville High School Student for Firing Gun on Campus

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Scotlandville High School located at 9870 Scotland Ave. at approximately 11:55 a.m. in response to a 911 call of shots fired on the campus. An undercover EBRSO detective apprehended the suspect at approximately 12:05 p.m. at the corner of Lewis and Rosenwald. Detectives also recovered the discarded handgun on the roof of a nearby unoccupied building.


The 14-year-old student is charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Property, Illegal Carry of a Weapon, Illegal Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and Attempted Second Degree Murder.


According to reports, the 9th grader fired the handgun multiple times in an outdoor covered breezeway on the campus. He then fled on foot. No one was injured. He will be booked into Juvenile Detention Center on the above listed charges.
