East Baton Rouge Sheriff's detectives responded to a shooting on May 18th at approximately 8:20 pm in the 9400 block of Kindletree. Detectives discovered 20-year-old Jesse Trejos, of 16841 Waterleaf Ave. suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Trejos was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
During the course of the investigation, a suspect vehicle was identified through witness accounts and video surveillance footage. Further investigation revealed the suspect vehicle belonged 20-year-old Taylor Besson.
Detectives contacted Besson today, and he admitted to driving his Dodge truck to the area of 9400 Kindletree Avenue on the date and time of the incident to meet Trejos in reference to a drug transaction. He identified his passenger as his relative, Justin Braud. After the victim was shot, both Braud and Besson fled the scene.
A witness who rendered aid to the victim stated the victim said the suspect's name was in his cell phone, and the suspect fought him for his backpack. Cell phone records confirmed the victim was in contact with Braud immediately prior to being killed. Cell phone text messages also confirmed Braud and the victim planned to meet immediately prior to his death.
Besson was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Principal to 1stDegree Murder and Principal to Armed Robbery. Detectives prepared an affivadit warrant for the arrest of 20-year-old Justin Braud for First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery. Braud was taken into custody this afternoon and will be booked on the above listed charges.
