EBRSO Terminates Deputy Following Pepper Spray Incident
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office terminated a prison employee today as a result of an investigation into the misuse of his FREEZE+P spray while working a private extra-duty detail assignment.
The deputy worked security for a Battle of the Bands function at Southern University in April. According to reports, he sprayed his FREEZE+P spray on the ground in close proximity to people exiting the stadium.
The Sheriff’s Office recently received information related to the incident, and began investigating to determine if the spray was used by an EBRSO employee. Once it was determined the deputy did in fact misuse his spray, he was terminated for multiple policy violations including Conduct Unbecoming, Unsatisfactory Performance, False Statements and Use of Force.
