Baton Rouge Police, Louisiana State Police, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and ATF assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit arrested three individuals and recovered six firearms following a burglary in which one of the suspects threatened to use guns to kill police.
Baton Rouge Police responded to an alarm at the Cash America Pawn at 3347 Government Street on July 9th at approximately 2:00 a.m. Officers apprehended one man fleeing on foot. Surveillance video showed the suspects using a ladder to climb the roof of the building and make entry. Eight handguns and one airsoft BB gun were missing from the store.
Antonio Thomas, 17, was apprehended on the scene and found in possession of one handgun and one airsoft BB gun. During questioning Thomas stated that he and three other suspects stole the firearms and were going to get bullets to shoot police. Thomas was booked into parish prison for Simple Burglary and Theft of a Firearm.
Through the course of the investigation detectives recovered two additional handguns in the possession of a man that allegedly purchased them illegally on the street. Trashone Coats, 23, was charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
Malik Bridgewater, 20, was apprehended on Sunday at his residence at 2050 Hemlock and was charged with Burglary and Theft of a Firearm. Detectives recovered three of the stolen handguns with Bridgewater.
A 13-year-old male was arrested yesterday and charged with Simple Burglary and Theft of Firearm.
